Bladder obstruction can affect caldesmon expression in the detrusor.

Bladder obstruction induces hypertrophy is associated with a dedifferentiation of the smooth muscle cells of the bladder.

In the early phases of bladder obstruction detrusor hypertrophy leads to an increase in detrusor pressure.
